 WEATHER SYSTEM AND EXPECTED RESULT 

 The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to continue  oscillating over Malawi. Therefore, expect fairly scattered thunderstorms and rain showers 

 

SHIRE VALLEY:

(Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys).

 

Expect few thunderstorms  in the morning and in the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min.24oC and Max.33oC

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

Expect thunderstorms in the morning and  during the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min19oC and Max.28oC

CENTRAL AREAS: 

(Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

Expect thunderstorms and rain showers showers  during morning and in the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min 19oC and Max. 27oC

LAKESHORE AREAS:

(Areas along Lake Malawi; Salima, Nkhotakota, Nkhata Bay, Karonga, Mangochi )

Expect locally heavy thunderstorms in the  morning and in the afternoon

Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min. 24oC and Max.34oC

NORTHERN AREAS: (All areas north of Mzimba)

Locally heavy thunderstorms  in the morning and during the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min. 18oC and Max. 28oC

WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Light and variable often with gusty winds in stormy areas.
