 WEATHER SYSTEM AND EXPECTED RESULT

A rain  belt is expected to remain active over Malawi. Therefore, heavy thunderstorms and rain showers will persist.

ADVISORY: As a precaution, watch out for flash floods and never attempt to cross flooded or fast flowing rivers or streams

 

 
SHIRE VALLEY:

(Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys).

 

Cloudy conditions with locally heavy rain during morning and later in the day

Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min. 23oC and Max.32oC

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

Expect locally heavy thunderstorms and  rain showers during morning and  in the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min 17oC and Max. 26oC

CENTRAL AREAS: 

(Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

Cloudy with localized but heavy thunderstorms during morning and later in the day.

Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min 18oC and Max. 25oC

LAKESHORE AREAS:

(Areas along Lake Malawi)

Expect heavy thunderstorms and rain showers in the morning and afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min. 22oC and Max.30oC

NORTHERN AREAS: (All areas north of Mzimba)

Cloudy with rainy weather during morning and later in the day.

Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min. 16oC and Max. 24oC

WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Light and variable often with gusty winds in stormy areas.
