 WEATHER SYSTEM AND EXPECTED RESULT

Warm, moist and unstable easterly air mass is still influencing weather over Malawi. Expect hot and cloudy conditions over more areas with rain showers and thunderstorms mainly over southern Malawi associated with strong winds.

 
SHIRE VALLEY:

(Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys).

 

Partly cloudy  with few thunderstorms in the morning. Very hot  with thunderstorms and showers later in the day.

 

Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min. 24oC and Max.33oC

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

Partly cloudy  with rain showers during morning. Locally heavy thunderstorms later in the day

Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min 18oC and Max. 27oC

CENTRAL AREAS: 

(Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

Partly cloudy in the morning. Generally hot with thunderstorms later in the day.

Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min 20oC and Max. 28oC

LAKESHORE AREAS:

(Areas along Lake Malawi)

Partly cloudy in the morning. Localized but heavy  storms during  the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min. 25oC and Max.34oC

NORTHERN AREAS: (All areas north of Mzimba)

Locally cloudy in the morning. Partly cloudy and warm during the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min. 14oC and Max. 30oC

WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Generally  light easterly, often gusty in stormy areas.
