WEATHER SYSTEMS AND EXPECTED RESULTS:.

North easterly airflow is expected to interact with moist air mass from the north  west. Expect hot conditions with thunderstorms which will be heavy at times mainly over central and northern areas.

ADVISORY: Reduce speed significantly if driving through a thunderstorm as visibility is reduced.

SHIRE VALLEY: (Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys)

Partly cloudy in the morning. Hot to very hot during the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min. 26oC and Max.36oC

 

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

Partly cloudy during the morning.  Expect few thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min 20oC and Max. 29oC

 

CENTRAL AREAS: (Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

Partly cloudy during morning. Localized but heavy thunderstorms during the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min 18oC and Max. 28oC

LAKESHORE AREAS: (Areas along Lake Malawi)

Expect rainy weather in the morning. Expect rainy weather over few areas during the afternoon

Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min. 21oC and Max.33oC

NORTHERN AREAS: (All areas north of Mzimba)

A chance of rain weather during the morning. Locally heavy thunderstorms later in the day.

Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min. 17oC and Max. 26oC

WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Winds: Generally light north easterly but gusty in stormy areas.
