MALAWI'S WEATHER FOR THE PAST TWO DAYS   

Clear skies and very cold weather persisted at night with occurrence of fog in low-lying areas and high grounds. On 06th August 2017, very low temperatures were recorded at Mzuzu airport (09oC), and it was generally cold in most areas with Kasungu and Dedza having 12oC, KIA 14 oC.    On 07th August 2017, the lowest temperature was recorded in Dedza (08oC), Kamuzu international airport had 10 oC while Mzuzu airport and Chitedze reported 11oC.

SOUTHERN AFRICA REGIONAL WEATHER ANALYSIS            

Cool and moist south easterly air mass will affect Malawi from Tuesday until Wednesday.Thereafter, easterly air mass will influence weather over Malawi.

  WEATHER FORECAST FOR MALAWI        

Expect an increase in cloud cover over more areas and chance of few showers especially over southern highlands and some parts of the northern lakeshore areas on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thereafter, expect warm to hot and partly cloudy conditions. However, cool to cold conditions will persist at night and during early morning.

 

SHIRE VALLEY:

(Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys)

Partly cloudy with isolated showers on Tuesday. Thereafter, expect warm to hot and partly cloudy conditions during the day. However, expect cool weather at night and fog during early morning.

Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min. 16oC and Max 31oC

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

Partly cloudy with few showers on Tuesday. Thereafter, expect warm to hot and partly cloudy conditions during the day. However, it will be cold at night with patches of fog during early morning.

 Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min.11oC and Max. 28oC

CENTRAL AREAS:

(Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

 Warm and partly cloudy during the day. Cold to locally very cold at night and fog patches during early morning.

Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min. 8oC and Max.24oC

LAKESHORE AREAS:

(Areas along Lake Malawi)

 Warm to hot and partly cloudy during the day. Cool at night and during early morning.

Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min.16oC and Max.29oC

NORTHERN AREAS:

(All areas north of Mzimba)

 Partly cloudy with few showers over highlands on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thereafter, warm and partly cloudy during the day. Cold to very cold at night and fog during early morning.

Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min.10oC and Max.24oC

WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Generally   south easterly becoming south easterly by Thursday
