MALAWI'S WEATHER FOR THE PAST TWO DAYS   

 Chiperoni weather affected most areas of the country, which resulted in very chilly conditions, rain drizzles and Mwera winds. This was as result southeasterly air mass originating from high-pressure
system of magnitude 1030hpa at its centre. On 16th June 2019, the following rainfall amounts were recorded:
North: Mzuzu 2.8mm, Nkhata bay 0.5mm
Centre: Dedza 3.2mm, Salima 2.9mm, Nkhotakota 0.4mm, Chitedze 0.2mm,
South: Mimosa 33.2mm, Ntaja 7.6mm, Chichiri 7.5mm, Makoka 1.9mm, Ngabu 0.3mm.
Whereas minimum temperatures were recorded as follows:
North: Karonga
17 oC, NkhataBay 16 oC, Mzimba 14 oC, Bolero 17 oC, Mzuzu 12 oC ,Centre: Salima 22 oC, Nkhotakota 18oC, Chitedze and KIA 15 oC,  Dedza 12 oC, Kasungu 10 oC
South: Monkey bay
21 oC, Ngabu 18 oC, Ntaja 17 oC Chileka Airport 16 oC, Mimosa 15oC, Makoka 14 oC and Bvumbwe 12 oC.

. SOUTHERN AFRICA REGIONAL WEATHER  ANALYSIS    

A series of high-pressure systems traversing the east coast of South Africa will maintain an influx of cool and relatively moist southeasterly air mass into Malawi.

 WEATHER FORECAST FOR MALAWI

 Expect generally warm and partly cloudy conditions during the day while cold to very cold weather at night and fog patches during morning.

 

SHIRE VALLEY:

(Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys)

Cool and partly cloudy at night with fog patches during early morning. Warm and partly cloudy in
the afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min.16oC and Max.28oC

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

Very cold and partly cloudy at night with fog during morning. Mild to warm and partly cloudy during afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min.10oC and Max 25oC

CENTRAL AREAS:

(Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

Very cold and partly cloudy at night with fog during morning. Warm and partly cloudy during afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min 08oC and Max.26oC

LAKESHORE AREAS:

(Areas along Lake Malawi; Salima, Nkhotakota, NkhataBay, Karonga, Mangochi )

Cool and partly cloudy conditions, otherwise isolated showers over northern lakeshore areas, at night and during morning. Expect warm and partly cloudy conditions during afternoon.

Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min.16oC and Max. 28oC

NORTHERN AREAS:

(All areas north of Mzimba except Lake Shore)

Very cold and partly cloudy with fog at night and during early morning. Mild and partly cloudy with occasional afternoon showers.

Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min.10oC and Max.24oC

WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Generally south easterly.
